Hot VWs Manx type

Post by mel hubbard »

A few years ago (01-02 I think) in Hot Vee Dubs there was write up and a small pic of a modern day buggy that some guy was developing in USA,, it looked to be in the early stages, maybe just the plug (buck). Does anyone have further info or pics on this project?? I often wonder what happened to it. I know you guys can sort it for me :drinking:

It looked a little bit like that Peugeot concept buggy, from the front. UK guys,, like the one in the latest Pug TV add.

A few years ago my buddy in Torrance Ca used to mail Hot VWs to me,, and i would mail Volksworld to him,, this way we got to read two mags for the price of one :drinking: this also stopped my wife moaning about Vee Dubb mags all around the home. Now i just buy the mags with good buggy features in  Back to that buggy,, i just spoke to a guy who told me that it was a full size mock up, made in a clay type material,, maybe,, Who knows?? Im guessing it never made production as surely you guys would have heard about it :help:

How strange it is to go look for something in my Hot VWs collection and find it in the first magazine I open!!! May 2001 of all things. The buggy I'm thinking of was created by Veloce Designs and Motorsports. The guy's name is/was Merlyn Cofano. I found this version on the VW Trends site. Trends Site Image The article says to contact Fiberjet for more info, but I see nothing on the Fiberjet site. Here is the scan from Hot VWs: Image

Can I have 3 posts in a row?? OK, here's one more I found on my quest of "modern day" buggies. It may be old news too, but Ilike it! Doon Buggies Image Nice opening "bonnet". Image OK, I'm done for awhile.

Michael,, TOP MAN  that Stealth buggy was the one i was talking about,, thanks for the extra pics,, the XR looks a bit like a modern day Thomas Crown buggy. Looks like a lot of work went into that project.
