I drove it!!!!!!

Post by Gene-C »

Against better judgement, I drove my PAN for the first time!!! With the red gas can strapped to the rear torsion and the steering wheel in my lap, I was off!!!! This thing flies!!! With a blip of the throttle in second gear I roasted the tires and squirrelled sideways!!! Woo hoo!!!! Now I have to explain those 295mm burnout marks in my driveway to the wifeeee. :laugh1: :laugh1: :laugh1: Image

Congratulations, you wouldn't be normal if you didn't take it for a ride. It's tough to drive with the steering wheel flopping around though. Huh? Not that I have ever done that. :D

Yea, you gotta leave the wheel in your lap to let it slide around. Too cool!!!

I have not put the engine in mine yet - but after I took the pictures yesterday, I put the seats in it and said Vroom Vroom - does that count? It has got to be thrilling to drive your own handywork. Congratulations!

"Hangar Flights" are important, but don't count as the "first ride"....My first ride was through the park across the street, after the stuck throttle, I went over the jump that the kids built for their bmx bikes. I had to wait until the body was on because of the wiring harness, radiator etc.

Looks awesome!! My brother told me a story about a friend who was building a trike in High School automotive class. His friend absolutely needed to try it out so he used a string to pull the throttle. Throttle stuck open and with the front wheel off the ground he t-boned the shop teacher's car. Oops! Too funny! With a little wiring and some brakes I'll be ready for a test.

I drove mine around the block and past my buddys house, he came running out to see it drive by. No seats, just a plastic crate, worn old vw stock rims and tires all around, 8 year old daughter, 11 year old son sitting on the pan. Wonder what the wife would of thought. Glad no cops were around.
