are you guys picking up your parts from a local pep boys or something or mailordering them in? i was actually surprised to find that my local autozone had a fan belt in stock for a beetle! i didn't think they carried stuff that old- and on this coast- obscure. :D

I get my fan belts from the local auto parts store because they are the same brand as you would find at a "VW store". I also require a different sized belt than stock for some reason, and the local parts stores have a wider selection. I generally get spark plugs from the local stores as well, but I won't buy caps and rotors there unless they are Bosch. Ditto for spark plug wires. I don't use points anymore, as I have switched over to Compufire, which should also be available through your local parts stores.

Mike........WE out here on the "left coast"( geography, not politicaly :D ) have access to a great variety of VW aftermarket parts suppliers. :rock: :dollar: unny :dollar: outhern California..... (no offense Mike, just goofin' with ya' . SOME people just DON'T get it!)

I always stick with Bosch ignition parts with the exception of specialized electronic ignition components.
