Q & A

We recieve tons of emails with questions of all sorts. We will attempt to answer some of the more common here.

What is the Manx Dune Buggy Club?
This club has no gavel, no board of directors, no indoor meetings (unless it rains), but is given to outdoor gatherings for tire kicking and telling small lies, comparing cars and getting to know each other. We organize a few events a year for our club members, produce a newsletter, and maintain a website.

Do I need to own a genuine Meyers Manx to join the club?
No. Any make or model of fiberglass dune buggy is accepted as long as it is street registered.

Where and when does the club meet?
We invite you to join us and other Club members who gather together for breakfast on Saturday mornings. We are now meeting at “Charlie’s” Family Restaurant in* *Escondido from 7:15 AM until about 8:30 (210 N. Ivy)*. From I-15 take the Valley Parkway exit east. Turn left on Ivy and go 3 blocks. Or call for directions if you are able to join us (760) 749-6321. Once there, you’ll find us in the banquet room. Aside from that, we have our scheduled events which can be found on the events page.

What kinds of activities do club members participate in?
We mainly participate in our organized events which include fun runs and "Show & Shine" competition. Most of the time it is a combination of pavement and dirt. We typically have three courses. Pavement for the street show cars that don't want to get dirty, moderate difficulty, and most difficult.

How much is a membership?
The club membership is $30 annually.

What do I get with my membership?
The membership entitles you to attend Club Events, a Club membership card, the "Manx Mania" - our 12-16 page, quarterly newsletter and access to our "members only" forum where one might find answers to technical questions. The newsletter provides answers to personal questions, a technical column, and a column from Bruce Meyers regaling the past. It also includes a report of past events, recent trips, classified ads, and a calendar of upcoming events. You also recieve access to the private member's area of our website.

Where can I buy a real Meyers Manx?
Genuine Meyers Manxes from 30 years ago are difficult to come by. People typically find them for sale on ebay or in the Auto Trader magazines. You can also check our classifieds section of the website. Otherwise, we are currently in production with the new Manxter. These are readily available.
