turn signal sizes

Post by 90volts »

does anyone have the dimensions or know where i can get them for front turn signals. i have 70 up style now and they seem too big. so i am looking at the smaller, it looks like, 58-63 or 64-69.trying to get an idea of what i think looks right for me. thanks.

Mike, I replaced mine for the same reason. JCW has a smaller one in the same style. IT has a clear lens. I had to replace the 1156 socket with 1157 for parking nad turn. They look good but the chrome quality isnt there. Sorry I dont have a close up but you might be able to see what I am talking about.

The turn signals on my Manx are 67 to 69. The footprint of the light from 64 to 69 is all the same. The difference is, the lights on the 67 to 69, have more of the lense wrapping around the side of the light to act as a side marker light then the 64 to 66 lights. Be aware where you mount the turnsignals on the fenders. I never liked where mine were mounted but I determined why they were mounted where they were. The turn signal wiring on many buggys contacts the tire tread when the suspension is compressed. My wiring clears the tire so I left the lights where they were when I bought it. I found a set of the earlier style ones once that didn't have the bulb socket going down it is layed back so they is nothing below the fender except 2 bolts. Nothing fo rthe tire to hit. Other than that it looked just like the 58-63 style "peanut" signals. They are the smallest. As you go up in years you go up in size. CIP sells these for $14.95 each. Wish I could remember where I got the other ones. john Image

Those are what I am using. Single filament, though. I just use them for turn signals. Image

are those amber lenses scott? i just spoke to the shop and they told me they had to be amber to pass inspection. so either amber lenses or clear lenses with amber bulb. jerry, i'm having a hard time finding the 67-69 like you have. i like the sidemarker idea too but it looks like no one carries them. any ideas where might have them?been able to find the 58-63 and 64 to 69 but not the 67-69 with the open sides. even originals on samba ( which i am starting to think may be rare-expensive).

Image Lucas 488s are a nice clean option for turn signals. They fit very nicely on the front edge of a Manx fender. They have thick glass lenses in amber, clear or red. They're high quality and last forever. They were used on a lot of original Manxs. They're available new from these guys http://www.cobraaccessories.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=3&osCsid=9f3b7e7f5671c3461a6c1e52a1db08a4 Image

My Manx came with the Lucas L594 style lenses. They look a little like tiny beehives.

90Volts, These seats are a similar style, but a bit easier on the wallet. http://www.corbeau.com/products/classic/classic.shtml

You might want to checkout the Samba for a used set. I had trouble finding the pictures to post :D I found the one in the pic at http://www.airheadparts.com I don't know if it is a Hella or reproduction.
