CB Ant
Firestick no ground plane, usually you need the non ground plane model due to the lack of metal on a fiberglass buggy, mine are mounted to the roll bars and tuned. :hello:
Hey Buggy Buddys what kind of CB and antennae are you using and where did you mount it?
I also use a "Firestik" no ground plane antenna which works well. It's mounted to the center rear of the fiberglass body . Be sure to follow the directions that come with the antenna. http://www.firestik.com/ I use a Radio Shack CB radio with an external speaker. As Jimbo indicated, its very important to tune the antenna to the radio. Since you live close, I'll tune it for you when you are ready. Here is some CB Radio Antenna information from "Firestik" that may be helpful for you when considering an antenna: http://www.firestik.com/FAQ.htm and http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/GP-or-NGP.htm Ed Chenal Placentia, Ca

My CB is the Cobra model that has all the controls and the speaker in the same case as the microphone. It comes in handy when you have to put the speaker up to your ear, although a high quality external speaker would be a good addition: http://cobra.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=p ... gory_ID=30 I like having the weather channels, and we even used that feature once to help decide if we should cut a trip short or not. We did, and it was the right decision. I run the old Francis Amazer antenna I have had for years. It's 8 feet tall, so it's a good place to put the flag. I have the mount on the rear cage so I can run the antenna in any roof / non roof configuration.
The antenna also makes an excellent lightning rod. It was buzzing and crackling one time when we were under a cloud in the desert. We got out of the area FAST!
