Hello, I'm trying to figure out exactly what followed me home last week and was hoping the experts out there can help. How do I determine the year of the chassis, engine and body. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Sparky

I know you can tell what year the engine and chassis is by looking in the back of the California imports catolog www.cip1.com

Looks like an original MANX! the chassis is 65 down the engine is a type 3 good score!!!!! MURZ

I'd also say original Meyers Manx: the body looks totally correct. It has the ABS plastic dashboard with metal frame and even has the original stainless steel panel that the rear license plate was mounted on, both are unique to the Meyers Manx. It also has a nice made in the USA pair of Deitz 820 headlights. Does it have a small metal tag attached with 4 pop rivets on the flat fiberglass area above the shifter coupling access panel, or 4 small holes where a tag used to be? If it doesn't, that doesn't mean its not a Manx. They didn't start the tag until 1968.

It looks like an original Manx to me. It looks to have a tag above the pedals, is it the VIN# or possibly a manufacturers tag?

Can you read that tag above the peddle cluster? What does it say?

IF you have some pick of the battery area that would help confirm that it is a manx. Does it have a battery and a spare tire cut out?? Jeremy Chattanooga, TN

I'll be amazed if it turns out not to be a real Manx...everything looks A1 to me!!!

Very nice find!!! I think its a real Manx as well. check the home page of this site and look for an area that says " what is a real Manx" There, Bruce explains what to look for and how to have it authenticated if you suspect it is

Many thanks to everyone for the comments and information. Tomorrow I will look at that plate near the pedals and I'll take a few more pics. The area behind the passenger seat does have a place molded into the body for a battery and behind the drivers seat is the same kind of thing only larger going deeper toward the rear. Also I see no signs of any tag or holes for a tag above the shifter coupling area. I did find an embossed number in the body flange area behind the driver seat where the floor pan meets the body. It looks kinda like "M1 CH xxxxx" but is very difficult to read. Don't know if that means anything?? Thanks again everyone for the help Sparky

Sparky, Here's the holes where the Manx ID was located on my 'project' body. Maybe check out the underneath side of the body, as maybe someone filled them in. And, you could have a pre-ID tag body, like cairomanx said. The previous owner (or maybe several of them), liked to drill on my 'project' body. You got a great 'find'.

I looked at the metal plate near the pedals and it appears to be a backing plate for the electric fuel pump that's mounted on the other side. I can see nothing on it. I took some pics of the inside rear area.

I don't know about the numbers but the underside of the fenders and the rear body supports are just screaming Manx.
