Manx Club

Three buggies went on the block at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale Arizona today.  None were Manx's but all presented well with good paint and upholstery.   Prices from prior years has encouraged more fiberglass dune buggies to be included in this event even though quality of build and detailing make these cars drivers not show cars.  For those of you following the auction the lot numbers are 301, 303, 339. On Sunday the last buggie will auction (lot 1515).

Lot 301 is the yellow non-Meyers Buggy that the owner tricked a set of badges and authorization kit out of Bruce and Winnie Meyers...

There is another one, lot 1539 on Sunday.

Lot 301 that sold on Wednesday was the fake Manx that Bruce & Winnie had sent the paperwork and emblems for a real Manx and they put them on that car.  I hope the buyer knew what he was buying.  Big discussion on The Samba!    Tom

I did notice the BJ did describe the Fake MM as a "Manx Style" so at least BJ had it correct ...

My intent on this thread was to illustrate that fiberglass dune buggies are once again getting more national attention.  The big auctions in years past had NO buggies presented for sale.   The sale of a restored real Meyers Manx for a good price two years ago at BJ opened a lot of eyes among car enthusiasts and auctioneers of a somewhat forgotten segment of automotive history and has resulted in more buggies of all brands being listed.  

Everyone I met ogling the four buggies this year were excited they were there.  The guys remembered either having one or wishing they had.  Most had not seen one in years.  

A very favorable trend.   Lets enjoy it.
