I found this site 2 years ago and it got me thinking of building a Manx,,Well I found a Manx ll #1089 and I well be receiving a new chassis from Dave Barrett tomorrow,So my question is well I get the support hear to help me build this thing,I have been reading the thread on Buggy of the Month and how to get more people back to the site,,So I thought I would start a build thread and see what happens,,What do you think ?????

Congrats on finding a suitable MANX II to do a build. Using Dave Barrett's chassis is a great idea. I have heard nothing but fantastic reviews on his metal work. I think you may be very surprised at the respons from the registered members on this site. Starting a any thread, is one of the best ways to encourage more os us to respond. I believe that we just need to start using the site and it will become popular again. Again Tim, Thank you for starting the ball rolling. Good luck on your build projrct

Yo Tim.... That same thread is what convinced me to get my Manx in gear and start posting on this site again. I've been a member all along and like "most" have dropped off because of membership dues (and the fact that I forgot my login number). Here's one of my customers that just completed a Barrett chassis with an A-arm kit... And if you need any help what so ever...This is still the place to look first... I dont usually get into the off road look that much but that camo buggy is pretty cool.

Tim, I'm nearing the end of a 68 Manx build using a Dave Barrett chassis (Condor S). I am very pleased with the quality of his work. This buggy will see on/off road duty. Hopefully the buggy will be done in time for Big Bear. Dave also bulit me a custom flat chassis for a Classic Manx I will build later that will use a VW T-III automatic.

I've been bustin my butt to get this car ready for Big Bear. Here is the effort for the last three days. Empty chassis on Wendsday, on trailer today headed to Bob Hunters tomorrow for a wiring job. After that is install seats, floor and some shake down miles.....

The work on my Manx has not been as extensive as yours, but it has been fun. One thing I tried was carpet. Climbing in with the roof on was a little tricky because of the angle and force on the right foot it caused me to slip a little. Here in the North West we are know to have occasional rain (250 days + a year) That little slip became a major problem. Out with the carpet and in with Hurculiner a do it your self roll in bed liner for trucks. That works great. I use it as a daily driver and love it. I too would like to make Big Bear but I spend my July?s at the Arlington Washington airport for their Fly-In. I did see one other Manx out there two years ago. Not many of them in Washington.
