Plenty of wrong information on here. I found 6 mistakes. Did I miss any? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meyers_Manx -Designed in Fountain Valley(Was designed and first produced in Newport Beach) -Old Red won the first Baja 1000 (Bruce and Old Red set a record but the first Mexican 1000 race was won by a Meyers Manx driven by Wilson and Mangels) -Manx in Elvis movie (Dune buggy which looks similar to a Meyers Manx in the Elvis movie) -Meyers failed to patent design (Had a patent but it wasn't upheld) -A "full wheelbase Beetle" Buggy kit is still being produced and sold by the Meyers company. (The Manxter is referenced in the paragraph that follows. Can't tell what he's talking about here, and its not the Meyers Company, its Meyers Manx) -Manxters are presently produced in Valley Center.(Were, but presently produced elsewhere)

Maybe Dave can verify this, but Im sure it was NOT a Meyers Manx in the Gorillaz music video. I thought the UK built Manx was wrong at first, then I recognized those metalflake green seat covers my wife made,,,,, that was one of the last.

That green flake Manx is very cute. I like those Ansen mags. In the section that talks about Meyers Manx in popular culture, besides the Thomas Crown Buggy and Hot Wheels toys, I think the most you could say about the others is that their designs were loosely similar to Meyers Manx. They were definitely not Meyers Manx.

The text in the caption of the picture with Bruce sitting in Old Red is still wrong. Tom

How's this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meyers_Manx The problem with Wikapedia is that anyone can post anything there and anyone else can edit stuff. That's why you shouldn't belive anything on there without checking elsewhere! Does anyone know who put the original entry up there? I hope I haven't upset them too much with my edits.

It still says Meyers Manx was designed and produced from 1963 in Fountain Valley. He started in Newport Beach. It says it won the first Baja 1000. The race it won in 1967 was called the Mexican 1000. Technically the first Baja 1000 was several years later, Same race, different name. Get rid of the whole sentence that says "A full wheelbase Beetle based buggy.... The following sentences that call it a Manxter, say it better. The buggies referred to in the Gorillaz, Spider-man, Wonderbug and Speedbuggy sentences were loose copies of the Meyers Manx design, not Meyers Manx.

I tried to post a pic of a Manxter but I don't have any pics that I took myself and ran into copyright issues. Maybe you could post one of yours Tom?

You have permission to use any picture on the Austrailian Manx Club Gallery in our album that does not say "borrowed picture". We have pictures of Kathleen's Manxter in many places if you look in the trip albums. It might be more appropriate to use a picture of the prototype. I have some recent pictures of that car if you need that. Tom

Not too sure how easy it is to post photos on there, I want to make sure they blend in with the current photos on the page.
