RHD & LHD tie rod differences,, help!
On LHD type 1 VW's the longer tie rod is shorter than the longer one on RHD models & the shorter one is longer than the short one on a RHD vehicle. You with me here guys?? its been a long time since I did this RHD to LHD thing,, but from memory I think the above is right,, or I hope it is, coz I,ve got a bet riding on it with a guy who said LHD & RHD are the same length. If Im right can someone tell me the length of each tie rods ,,,, just the rods,, without the track rod ends. Would like to know the differences between the two. THANKS!

I've got spare rhd track rods if you need them and I've got the correct size tap if you need to shorten any. I'll go and measuer mine and post later. I pressume the chassis, not that old; ie it's got steering damper and bigger track rod ends. Don't forget you need to use the correct steering drop-arm as well... Dave.
The LHD ones on my car are 620mm and 210mm. A spare set of RHD ones I've got are 650 and 190mm. That's just the length of the rods themselves.
GREAT STUFF DAVE!!! THANKS Andy Saunders Phoned last night & said he was converting his buggy to LHD,, he said that he changed the drop arm,, but when I said about changing the tie rods, he said ''no you dont have to,, they're the same'',,,, that got me thinking
I guess he could chop the 650 down to 620mm & make up the 20mm on the short one with track rod end adjustment.
