Last week my buddy took me up to Scotland, it was the furthest north Ive ever been on this island. Sorry guys, no pics you will have to use your imagination,,,, the place we visited is called Strathyre, a magnificent setting with breathtaking veiws,, its located among scenic lochs, mountains and forests. Nestled between the heart of the forest and the banks of Loch Lubnaig are Log Cabins which you can hire out,, sheer paradise for lovers of nature,,,, the place was alive with birds of pray, red squirrels & deer. Looking further we found fast moving rivers branching off the loch,,,, the kind of water you can canoe down,,, if someone had put me in that place & said ''guess where???'' I would have said Canada. On the journey home I had this great idea,,,,,,, its my 25th wedding aniversary in September,,,,, what a great excuse to strap the old canoe & fishing rod on the roof rack and treat the wife to a romantic break. Well,, I put it to her tonight,,, like this,,, ''how about going to Scotland for a romantic week & get away from the stresses of modern day life with a relaxing stay in a cosy log cabin, set in shear bliss for our 25th aniversary darling????'',,,,,,,,,,,,,,, with not a word from me about the canoe or fishing rod. Her reply was,,, '' NO,, Scotland has never really apealled to me''. Oh well,,, the thought was there I guess,,, I kind of amazed myself that I could have such romantic thoughts,,,,, only to get turned down,,,, thats the thanks I got for 25 years of my life  Looks like that old dream of paddling white water will never happen now,,, AHHHh too old anyway,,, best stick to the calm stuff :D

You must've caught Scotland at the right time. Whenever I go it's lashing down with rain but you still get plagued by mosquitoes the size of birds, crap food and miserable locals. If your wife's anything like mine, she'll much prefer the Caribbean, 85 degrees, white sand and drinks with little umbrellas in. I know which I prefer; now where's that 'Sandals' brochure... :drinking:

The Caribbean sounds nice Dave,, your probably right, I guess it would be my wifes choice too. I was thinking more of getting away from all the posers & the BIG ???? holidays and taking a more casual break,,, would give me a chance to try out those Canadian canoes I made . Not been fishing for over 20 years also,, I need to catch up. If it rains all day, thats fine by me, we just stay in bed & do what we did 25 years ago,, thats if I can remember what it was we done back then
