For any one on the east coast. I came across an insurance agency that will cover DUNE BUGGIES. I was with allstate and paying $408.00 a year as a VW. He got me with a company that reconizes a dune buggy as a collector car and cut my premuim all most in half with better coverage. the only set back is your only allowed 5000 miles a year. It must be in good shape, not a pile of junk. This is for fibberglass bugs only, NO sand rails. The name of the agencey is: SMARON INSURANCE AGENCY. Kenneth M Smaron-President. Located at: 35 E Moreland Road Willow Grove Pa 19090. The phone # is 215-657-1174. He said he can help any one on the east coast.

Any idea if they'll cover Canadian residents? I'm currently insured as a parade/marketing vehicule for my dad's business under his insurance fleet. I would like to transfer the buggy under my name one of these days but the insurance issue is holding me back.

In B.C., Canada I am paying $629 for a full year. I have it registered as a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. Body style: Dunebuggy That is with liability only, no collision coverage. I have not had to get it inspected, nor have I been stopped in a police safety check. I have no idea what they will think of my registration. I think it describes my buggy very well! I will just drive it.

Glad to here that Ken took care of you Mike, as for the ones in canada, call , all you could lose is a phone call. Or he could tell you of some one up there that handles that insurance co.

Cripes...You guys should move down under...I'm paying AU$180 a year for full insurance on an agreed value of AU$15000 on a "limited" use plan of less than 5000KM a year.Great value for having multiple policies with the same insurer...the car is insured as a Manx beach buggy as well and they dump the wreck in my front yard for free if it gets totaled, which i hope never happens!!!!

Indeed Subimanx. Crikey!! My policy with Shannons is for unrestricted milage, the wreck, a free windscreen every year, agreed value, my choice of repairer, etc., all for about $250 per year with a 60% no claim bonus and multiple policies. We have it lucky here that we have several classic, vintage, unusual, kit car etc. insurers at reasonable prices. Poor old Septics, they are doing it tough.

I am in South Carolina and mine is insured with Nationwide and is recognized by them as a Meyers Manx dune buggy. The policy is for full coverge and costs me $130.00 per year. It has been insured this way since 2003 and has only gone up $1.00 since then. I do have everthing else with them.

Mine is titled as a 59 VW Beetle in Minnesota. I called up to insure it and it was $130 per year for liability and a little more for full coverage so I figured I would go for full coverage so I wouldn't worry about it as much when it is parked outside of a store, restaurant, etc. They asked for a value and they wanted pictures. I didn't want to find out what would happen if they saw it was a dune buggy so I just got liability that didn't require pictures. I still wonder what would happen if I went for the full coverage and sent in the pictures?
