U S has banned Vegemite

The FDA has banned the Australian iconic food Vegemite from sale in the USA because it contains folates. Aussies live on the stuff. It's a fermented vegetable product that is black, has the consistency of axle grease. is very strongly flavoured and is an aquired taste. It's made by the Kraft food corporation, so it's US owned and has been for years. There may still be the jar that I left in Bruce's pantry in 1998. If it's still there,(the label is yellow) ignore the use by date (it meaningless, Vegemite never goes off) and try a LITTLE bit on buttered toast. DO NOT use a lot. You will not like it. Spread it on very very thinly, until you acquire the taste. DO NOT eat it raw from the jar. I can because I was brought up on it. I can eat it by the spoonful. It's a great cure for a hangover as it contains concentrated vitamin B. Anyway Aussies are outraged by the FDA decision and the country is abuzz and agog about the decision to ban it.

Hey Richard,,, it don't seem like 7 years since we conquered Baja,,, And to think your Vegemite and my tent is still at Meyers home. But I have a plan to get back there,,,,, TO HELL! with the ban,,, lets start up an illegal Vegemite running scheme. I reckon Gus the Bus would make a good vehicle,,, fit a fast motor & load her up with the moonshine,,,,, what ya say??

Oh Yeah Bro. Let's form a convoy. We might even find that we have 11 long haired friends of Jesus in a chartreuse micro bus riding along with us. Gus would be a good vehicle. It's not too distinctive. Marmite and Bovril are similar fermented yeast extracts, but Vegemitye is the one we most like here. It is similar to Vitavitavegemin, which I have not tried. I can even remember the song from the TV ads which is always sung by children. "We're happy little Vegemiters, happy as can be. We all enjoy our Vegemite, for breakfast lunch and tea. Because we love our Vegemite, we all enjoy our Vegemite. It puts a rose on every cheek." Er, excuse me. I'm getting a bit sentimental here. This reminds me if when in 1973 I was travelling from Kathmandu to London via Africa and our ship the State of Haryana called into the Seychelles while enroute from Bombay to Mombassa. I found Vegemite in a supermarket in the main street of Victoria. I walked into the street and shouted that it was there. The bunch of Aussies that I was travelling with went in and we bought it all. My secreted jar which I was saving for a surprise in the middle of the Sahara, was subsequently broken and because of the broken glass, I had to throw it away at the Nigerian border. The border guards were very suspicious of it. Never mind. The US's loss is our gain.

. Crazy stuff,,, I never stopped eating Beef throughout that scare (when I could get hold of it) and theres nothing wrong with MOoooooooo
