Manxter Wheels and tire size

Post by gary dam »

I Know its early to think about this. But does anyone here, know what the tire & wheel sizes are on the Red SUBI Manxter or on the purple one that Bruce is working on? I saw some wheels that were on sale and was hoping that they were the right size. Thanks, Gary

The red Manxter has; front 17" X 7" backspace 4.00" 205/45/17 rear 18" X 10" backspace 4.50" 255/55/18. I went with the exact same. Do not use dropped spindles!!! They increase the track width. Olli

Gary, So were the wheels that were on sale the right size? What bolt pattern are you using? What engine have you decided on using? How about giving us a build update? Olli

Well they only had 2 in the style I liked. They were some Coddingtons. They said they were close outs and they only had certain sizes in the old style. I didn't like the new style as well. Build date? I am still trying to find a doner. Texas either has real junk, or very expensive that you don't want to tear apart. But the biggest deal is no one has the title. I have a pan already without a title, so I am trying to make it easier this time. So all we have been doing is painting parts. Motor wise, I am still about 95% set on the subaru. I will keep you in touch when we start turning bolts. Thanks for the help. Gary

I am looking forward to the updates. How about Arizona for a donor? If you have any questions at all about the Subaru please don't hesitate to ask. Last week I made the new rear bumper/cage center piece and an exhaust pipe. Olli

I might have to go down to Houston, but being close to the coast, most of those need a ton of work, rust! I live near Dallas, so I am trying stay close to here. I have talked with the guys at Way Out Salvage in Arkansas and they can help me out and do alot of the pan prep work if I want. These guys are great but really hard to get to. Their place is up a 10 mile gravel road but well worth it. The other problem is that I am trying to sell my shortened pan so I can get the room I need in my garage. Its down to $650. A bargin if I must say. That will give me room to move the new pan and the Manxter around. At least my wife isn't yelling yet. Even she has sat in the Manxter body already. Thanks Gary
