Hey Manxter26

Jay, I have an engine question for you. If i remember correctly You have a 2 liter engine in your white manx running a stock cam and such. I was hoping you could give me the specs on that engine. Type of carb used etc. The reason I am asking is that I am planning on building a 2054 (74X94) for my manxter project. I want the engine to have low end torque for the type of trails we like to break down on. I have most of the pieces, but havent decided on cam, heads and carbs yet, but I have been thinking of using the stock parts for off road driveability. Just wanted to know how you like your setup. Are you going to make it to Big Bear? Doran

Doran, I have a 2007 (78x90.5) with an Engle 110 cam and dual Kadrons in the blue buggy. It runs well and has plenty of torque.

Doran, The engine has been working out great. It is a 78x90.5 with stock heads, stock cam, stock flywheel, stock carb etc. I did spring for the CB performance Super Race Rods and I think we used the longer 5.500". I went from the 010 distributor to a stock vacuum advance type. The thing is a tractor. I do miss the upper rpm hit of the old engine, this one starts to fall on its face about the time the old one really started to pull, but for the offroad lugging around, its hard to beat. I know the carb is the limiting factor and have thought about a set of Kadrons, but for offroading, this is it. I've got a 76 crank, the long rods and a set of 94's set aside for my Manxter project. I think it will end up with a set of 44idf webers as it probably won't be the car that I take on "those" kind of roads. Remember, that was a "road" or my State Farm insurance wouldn't have paid that tow bill. I was looking at the Manxter pile today, and trying to decide which tranny to use. If I don't offroad it seriously, I have a stock thing trans to use. If it is going to be a little more rugged, I'll do a bus trans and have some 3" longer tube trailing arms to use. I just don't think that it needs to be any longer wheelbase than it already is. We are trying to plan for Big Bear. Are you going to be there? If so look me up and we'll compare ideas.
