Like I said of previous posts, I have no engine, just a mock up longblock from a friend... I wanted to build in two stages. One: chassis and body fully finished mounted wireing, lights, guages, interior and all, wheels/tires, floors etc ect... And stage two: Engine and trany with final misc hookups to battery and fuel line. That way I can put $$ into chassis and body for now and not have to store my project waiting for the engine which is big bucks. Should I wait months to save for the engine and pause the build here or can I continue on completing "stage one" and then focus on engine? thanks!

Not speaking from experiance but I would go as far as you can. Once the engine and tranny arrive its bolt it on, tune and go man go!!!!:driving: Get the MOTOR BABY!!!!! Spend that dough!!

Yeah but its spend that dough now (engine) and hod the build for months or continue on this/finish it and then get into the engine and tranny?

I'd build mine with a stock engine. then Upgrade later. That way your not sitting still

Ok so Ill forget about the engine for now and keep on doing what I am,,,which by the way its draining my bank as is.... So then I dont have to worry about engine/tranny clearance just install it whenever it comes? thanks!

Lights.... who needs them Seats...Use Boxes or the kitchen chair with legs cut off Wheels.... Stock or anything works. Floors... ok you need them. but engine and tranny.... I am not pushing!!!

Man you're stressing me out! I will finish all that even paint and lights then get into the engine deal............ The question is do I have to worry about engine clearance in the back of the body or not? Or will it fit no prob and without me having to cut fiber after its painted?

Sorry man I misunderstood your question. Low IQ As far as engine fitting I can not think of a reason it would not, unless you buggy is lowered in the rear. I am no expert but I have a great deal of room in the rear with my engine installed 76 block (1900cc). The only tight area is directly behind the fan and oil cooler. Are you running a stock size oil cooler?

Its a street buggy! I wish I knew what oil cooler to use...why not stock? I want the engine to be a 1914 or higher displacement with a DTM fan shroud and the serpentine system...oh a dual webers. Does that change any clearance thoughts? Does the DTM fan shroud sits farther back or same as stock doghouse?

If the fan shroud clearance is an issue, you can always build a type 3 with the fan mounted on the rear.

Why do you want a DTM shroud? They may cool better then the stock shroud but on a buggy,with the engine sitting out in the open, cooling isn't as much of a problem as it would be if the engine were in a sedan. The DTM is not cheap by any means and it sure is ugly. :2cents:

I have a beat up engine!!!!!!!!!!! from a friend for this. I need to know if the DTM fan shroud will sit farther back in the engine bay or just as stock shroud? Also: if I want the oil cooler in the stock possition do I have size options or just the stock size in the doghouse?

I have a stock cooler and the distance from the cooler to the body is 1.5" at top and 3" at bottom. I have no cooling issues with mine running the stock cooler.

Ok then Ill just worry about that clearance when I have an engine, and decide on shrouds and coolers, carbs while I build that engine...
