Formula Vee Anti-Sway Bar

This isn't something I've personally tried in a Manx but I'm throwing it out for comment: For some of you guys that have strictly street buggies, you might want to look at an item the Formula Vee racers use. They remove all the leaves from one of their front torsion tubes and replace it with a single anti-sway bar. The bar is a round spring rod with square ends, that the trailing arms attach to, same way as the torsion leaves. Its not anchored in the center so it acts as an anti-sway bar. Lots of buggies have about half their torsion leaves cut to get a better working suspension because the Manx is so much lighter than a stock beetle. Replacing one set of leaves with an internal anti-sway bar seems like it would be a simpler and neater way to accomplish the same thing and also gain an effective anti-sway bar. However, if they plan on using their buggy at all off-road, I think most people remove their anti-sway bar. http://www.campbellmotorsport.com/products.htm

I am building an all street buggy, and this seems like a good idea. from what I gather from the link you gave us, it comes in three different sizes? Does anybody here have one of these installed? Does anybody else make them? Thanks -Brian

I'm building a single seater 3 wheeler with a VW front suspension. I bought the smallest diameter bar and have it installed in the lower torsion tube. Its a well made part but I don't have any driving experience with it yet to recommend it or not. My 3-wheeler will only weigh about 700#s but with only one rear wheel, it needs a very effective anti-sway bar, That's why I got it.

Sounds like a cool idea. Any pics or info on the 3 wheeler Cairo??? That's another project on my list.
