What is this for

I just got my new case from CB Performance today. It is sweet!!!! This may be a stupid question but here goes. What is this plate and hole for???? I have seen it on several cases. Does it have to do with how they make it?? Or is it for a dry sump set up or something. Sorry guys I just gotta know.. thanks

Type 3 dipstick. I mounted my oil temp sender there.

The case is actually made to be universal..Universal, meaning:It will fit a T1 or a T3 VW. The 2 different type of VW have minor differences that were all incorporated into the "Universal" style case.

One day Ill get to order my new engine case, still in the chassis build stage..... Is that alum or mag? looks so tasty I could eat it right now of that table! damn
