Im building my buggy but dont know which tank will clear the tie rods underneath. I went to the VW store and they had the early style tank with the built in filler tube and cap and also the later tank that uses the remote filler cap, both for bettle Not super bettles (I know the super bettle one wont even fit the cut out) But which one will clear the tie rods? thanks!

I agree with Murz on the fuel tank selection....I don't know anything about your mailbox.

So both have the same shape/clearance underneath? The only diff is the filler type?

When I had my tank up front it hi the tie rods. I used some 1" square stock steel tubeing under the lip of the tank to shim it up a bit. just an idea if you run into problems

Ok but then will the hood hit the tank's top side with that 1" spacer?

jajaja funny that's what the guy at the local vw store told me to do he said "which ever tank u choose u will have to hammer the bumps in" thats nuts! lets do it right jrw, looking for options here without having to beat the crap out of a new tank! thanks! now are both tanks (early or late style) the same shape and measurements at the bottom?

the new style(on the left) is better suited to slammed tie rods. Your welcome.... MURZ
