HI, I just bought rear torsion bar bushings from Bugpack for my 70' pan and IRS and all front from Empi, thats what I found localy. Noticed the bugpack urethanes are much denser and seem to be stronger with a darker red color, Empi's seem to be lighter softer and looks to me of less quality... Should I return all Empi urethanes and look for Bugpack altogether? What do u think?

I would return all of them and buy stock VW rubber bushings. The rubber doesn't squeek, rubber bushings fit properly, rubber bushings contour to the cap as it's supposed to and rubber absorbs a major amount of road shock compared to the urethane bushings.

Still Ill go with the red urethanes as im building a "show" street buggy, but which are better or should I mix and match with what I have?

Both brands of red polyurethane bushings will squeak equally. If you really want to use polyuretane bushings in a buggy, use graphite impregnated black ones. http://www.suspension.com/part_order.htm

To anyone else who might be watching this thread, I'll DITTO what Jerry said. I had urethane spring plate bushings, and they squeaked, caused a harsh ride, and binded up so bad the suspension would barely move. I switched to rubber, and the suspension is perfectly quiet, the ride is smooth, and I even had to revalve the rear shocks stiffer because the suspension moves so much better. If you intend to drive the car, go with rubber bushings and keep the needle bearings in the front beam.

You guys forgot to mention that urethane also disintegrates, especially if it gets a drop of oil on it. But if you insist on using them, I would imagine they are made by the same manufacturer and put in different packages. Different color and density is probably just a different production run. :2cents:
