rear torsion bars or coil over
rear torsion bars or coil over
I would like to do away with the rear torsion bar and go to coil over shocks only. What are the plus and minus of this. The rear torsion bar gets in the the way for larger tires on my buggy. Any help is welcomed. chris
Coilovers are infinetly more adjustable. More expensive as well, but you get what ya pay for. You won't see hardly any torsion suspensions in off-road race vehicles these days, unless required by class rules. You'll need some "real" coilovers and not just some $29 shocks with coil springs on them. A cheaper option if you're just concerned with tire clearance would be to get shorter torsion bars. The long ones are 26 9/16" and the short ones are 21 3/4". Sway-A-Way makes spring plates to go with these shorter bars. CIP1 also has the IRS springplates for short torsion bars for $60
