Windshield/Dash mounting

I am building a NOS Meyers Manx that is missing some parts. I am working off the original assembly instructions. The instructions make reference to using an aluminum strip bent at a 60 degree angle. The strip is suppose to be placed between the hood and the dash. I have the original dash, hood, and dash frame, but not the aluminum plate. I have had a few Manx's and I have never notice a strip. Is it really needed. Thanks Rick

Rick, I have that piece on my buggy. I don't think it has a real purpose, but hides the rubber seal under the wind shield. You can see the grey/silver strip in this picture. If you want a closer picture, let me know. Bud
