Mike, If your wife is anything like mine, it was her mere presence that made everything come together. I think the body lift is the answer. I have never liked the idea, but I keep coming up with more things that the lift will fix and no reasons not to lift. Thanks for your input. Tom/Kathleen I knew...

Body Lift ?
Are any of you using one of the body lifts from Up Your Bug, Andy Felix? After looking at Johns TRICK Manxter in Big Bear, I realize that I will never take my car that far. But the extra 3 inches that a body lift would give my Manxter, would solve a bunch of problems, head room, carb clearance, whee...

Chris, I'm assuming that you have decided to keep the Manxter? Although I would probably never do it, I like the idea of the corvair. With the longer wheelbase, it would handle the additional weight better than the shorter wheelbase cars. I can picture a tricked out corvair hanging out the back with...

Chris, When we picked up our Manxter stuff several years ago, Bruce took me for a ride in the prototype Manxter and after completely scaring the crap out of me, we were standing around looking at the details of the car. Bruce said that he would like to build one with a Corvair engine and a fully enc...

That looks FANTASTIC!!!!! I've got an earlier Berrien chassis, the front tubes are a little different, that I haven't touched yet but was wondering what you guys are doing to title these. Since there are no chassis numbers with the torsion housing, are you getting a state issued number, are you usin...

Doran, Glad you're up and running again. I've made some of the same changes. We put in a new engine for Big Bear last summer, stock flywheel, stock cam, stock distributor, stock carb, etc. Its not as fast as the old motor but is way more driveable in the rough stuff. I had to weld up my tunnel also....

Tom, Thanks to you and John for getting us rescued. I kept telling myself that one of the other buggys could have pulled us out, but after riding out on the tow truck, it would have taken something with low range low gear to get us up that hill and I wasn't about to take my Dodge truck in there, and...

Hey dcamomanx!!!
Well yesterday was a good day. After breaking my buggy on the thill seekers run at Lone Pine last month, I was convinced that major tranny work was in order. As it turns out, I broke the right axle, side cover, side gear and bent the axle tube. All was able to be repaired without pulling the engine ...

Mike, I for one appreciate all the effort you put into your site. The ebay auction just ended and it did not make reserve. That surprised me as I thought the reserve was $30,000 and the high bid was $30,600. I think the auction will lead to a sale though, it generated lots of interest. I think the a...

Jimbo, After watching you go up that first hill, I would lean toward a clutch issue. It sounds like you're not disengaging all the way and after the abuse your clutch took trying to get up that thing, I'm not surprised. I can't believe Kathleen wouldn't get out and push. My clutch on the other hand,...
