Re: Bud's Manx Restoration
After seven months of having our buggy torn apart to fix a very leaky gas tank, I was finally able to drive the buggy under it's own power today (albeit a short trip - I still have a leaking axle seal). To figure out exactly how much gas my new tank holds, I put exactly 1 gal of gas in the tank and then drove 2 miles to the gas station to fill it. I put an additional 9.762 gals in it (topped if off as much as I could before coming out the vent tube). So, I believe the capacity of the tank is 10.7 gals of gas with most every drop usable!!!! WOO HOO! Thank you Joe Wheeler!joescoolcustoms wrote: Bud will have about 11.2 gallon capacity tank that is 97% to 98% capacity usable. Does not sound like much for all the effort, but consider a normal buggy tilts the fuel tank and about 1 gallon is left in the bottom not usable, and if the fuel filler is located in the front, it cannot be filled to full capacity, and results in about only 7 usable gallons. In my buggy, I have about a 280 mile cruising range with a tank modified similar to this.

Re: Bud's Manx Restoration
Cool!
I was off about 1/2 gallon, but being able to pull it down to within 1/2 pint of fuel is super.
I hope you enjoy many miles with it, and it should last through your Grand Children learning to drive a Stick Shift with it.
