Help wanted.

Post by mel hubbard »

Six months ago I ordered a Fiberglass (dry) chopper gun from a UK agent for Select Products USA. The UK agent is based at Mildenhall and has been stringing me along,,, saying it will be here next week,,, then next week. The guy turned out to be a total R Sole,,, and now tells me he can't get them anymore & Select Products has stopped selling them,,,,, after all that time  . Any help would be much appreciated,, as im real crap on these things & have not had much luck finding a supplier,, UK seems a wast of time :help: The Select Products old part number for the gun is SCG100,,,also need spare SCGROLL and SCGBLADE (replacement rollers & blades).

Mel, I could NOT find anything relating to a company named -> Select Products, that also related to fiberglass. Lots of companies by that name, that sell a whole host of "other" things. Here's a link to Fibre Glast Developments Corporation, Fiberglass Gun Roving and Chopper Gun. If you encounter resistance to shipping to the UK and need some help, I'll help you out, just let me know. You can send me an email by clicking on my name (upper left corner of this post) and then select "send an email" or contact ManxDavid, as we email back and forth a lot.

Thanks Allen,, have just mailed them to see if they have a UK supplier,,, their chopper gun looks similar to the one that Select Products ( automotive audio product specialists) did. If I have any problems getting one in UK (or shipping) will contact you. Its crazy,, whenever I've asked for a dry chopper gun at any UK GRP shops they look at me like I've just landed from another planet,,,, but then again we never knew what it was to Jive or have a Refrigerator until WW2. Thanks again for your help, its very much appreciated :hello: You want Vegemite??? you got Vegemite ,,, I can mail it :D

Mel, Now that you mention Select Products about the audio stuff, I found that web site yesterday, but, didn't think I was in the right place. I just went back and found it again and they do have fiberglass stuff. Click here for the page that has the chopper gun (way down at the bottom). Looks like it's more $$$ than the one at Fiberglast. Uh, no, please, no vegemite for me! I've tasted it and it's not for me. Thanks though. Let me know about the Chopper Gun, uh, if I ship it, I think I'll call it something other than a "gun".

For some reason I cant get on that S/P site. But I made contact with the guys at Fibre Glast OK,,, they don't have a UK supplier for their products,, but I phoned the guy at Mildenhall UK this morning (the guy I ordered one from) and told him about Fibre Glast,,, he looked at their site and was very interested in becoming a UK distributor, and told me he would contact them. He also said that the F/G chopper gun was the same model as the S/P one. If successfuf he told me that I could have my one at cost,, due to the long wait,,, so I will hold tight for a few weeks & see what happens,,, but wont hold my breath. The Guy at Mildenhall (Jed) sends his thanks for your help,,, But if he lets me down again I will get in touch & get some $$$ to you,,,,,,, VERY much appreciate your help Allen,,,& hope I can do the same for you some day.

Mel, Here's the link to the main Select Products web site. See if you can get to this spot, then navigate to the chopper gun page, by the menu on the left -> "Fiberglass" -> "Fiberglass Tools", then go to the bottom of the first page and find the "Next" button in the lower right corner... and at the bottom of the second page is the chopper gun. If those guns are the same unit, get the one from Fiberglast at $ 299.95 USD as the one from Select Products is listed at $ 350.71. Here's pics from the web site pages for both... Fiberglast Image Select Products Image Maybe next August, when I'm in the UK for a couple of weeks (maybe 3 weeks), we can meet up and you can teach me some fiberglass stuff. I'd love to start to learn how to make molds and fabricate things.

Maybe I'll make the tea and go to the chippy for you...

uh, Dave, what do you mean, present Mrs. Jones? Did that Speciality Tool calendar I sent you get you in the dog house? or what? Image Mel, thanks for allowing me to invite myself (we colonists don't really know the bounds of decency, so we just plunge ahead anyways! Always inviting ourselves to the party.). I'll get in touch next Summer or so, for some of my travel details. And, do let me know if you need assistance on the chopper gun.

[/QUOTE] I enjoyed the scenic views of California, Allen, but couldn't make out any of the pictures on the other calendar you sent. I did get a bit of vision back in the left eye after a couple of days though as the swelling went down... :D
