More Area Restrictions Coming to Oceano Dunes SVRA

Post by 5150bossman »

The Coastal Commission, California State parks and AQMD are all in negotiations to close more of Oceano Dunes SVRA.

It use to be that the government would try to strike a balance between public access and area conservation. But lately, its turned into area conservation at all costs... If you are interested in putting your two cents worth in, there is a meeting with a public comment period next week that you can use to voice your opinion.

The main meeting is July 11th in San Luis Obispo - unfortunately it conflicts with the Big Bear event. Here is information from CORVA:

PLEASE SHARE THIS EVENT! We need to pack this place, 1000s of people taking a stand will make a HUGE difference. WE NEED YOU!!!!

WE NEED YOU TO ATTEND THE CALIFORNIA COSTAL COMMISSION MEETING!

Date: Thursday, July 11th
Time: 8am
Location: Embassy Suites Hotel
333 Madonna Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405

You need to arrive early to have access to a seat, sit as close to the front as possible when you arrive. You will need to register and fill out a speaker card in order to speak! It is imperative that you get up and say something, even if just “please don’t close MY dunes” it will be helpful!
If you can write out something ahead of time, plan to speak on:
- your personal positive experiences in the dunes,
- your family history at the dunes
- what recreating at the dunes means to you and your family
- (locals) mention how closures will hurt you and your family
- consider bringing your kids and have them speak!!

PLEASE NO OUTBURSTS, YELLING, JEERING, ETC- this will NOT present our side in a positive light and could potentially lead to closure of the public comment section of the meeting.

WEAR A BLUE SHIRT!
