Funny noise coming from my Baja rear axle or CV's

Post by Old-Towd »

Heard a funny noise coming from my Baja rear axle or CV's , pulled the
Cv's and the outer CV needs replacing not sure if it was making the
funny sound so I pulled the stub axles , had fun with my drum holder the
lugs were to big for it - So I improvised .

The outer bearing didn't look that great -

Too cool some one never put a seal in behind the rear bearing  ( CV side
)  I almost couldn't turn the bearing -

 Jay
That " Funny noise" I know all too well coming from the wheel
and when you get that "funny feeling" about that "funny noise" you can't seem to find  but know it's in the wheel
By all meeans pull the wheel and replace the bearings
and make sure you check the spacer as well
Better on the rack than on the side of the road to replace it

Gene thanks I checked the spacer looks ok, bought new bearing kits for both sides today your right I was lucky to find it in my garage then out on the road. Funny I bought the Baja so I had something to drive while I work on Wrecker my Buggy but all I've been doing is working on the Baja.

What I like is someone thats consistent, the other side of the Baja was the same way no seal and the outer bearing is backwards and the outer spacer was backwards.

Plus one of my Type 4 CV's is a Bus CV and the grease just dripped out -
