iRS suspension

Post by tmbuxton »

i am rebuilding a Manx that I purchased new in 1968. I was wondering whether it is possible to use an IRS rear suspension with it. I read something that lead me to believe that the early bodies only worked with swing arm suspensions. Also I wanted to know if there are any problems using a Berrien frame with a Manx. Any comments would greatly be appreciated.

I believe there may be a clearance problem with the battery tray and spare tire well.  I seem to remember that some people would either cut out the area that interfered, or use a 3" body lift to get the body up and out of the way.  Hopefully someone will have direct knowledge as we have a clone and not a true Manx.

BTW, welcome to the club!  You will find a wealth of knowledge here to help you with your project.
