Pushed so hard to take Wrecker to it's 1st run Manx Club Big Bear Run that a lot of things got over looked even though I made a list to recheck stuff. Plus if it wasn't for a bunch of Buggy Buddy's help like Jon of Top Line , Super Ed , Kevin , Lee , Bill , Christy, some nights we even worked to midnight, Super Buddy's.

Been fighting the shifter the whole time but lately it stopped me from driving Wrecker I figured it was the the short shift rod with 10 degree angle that I couldn't get right. I checked the shifter, it looked good springs and all.  Ed stopped by and we pulled the shift rod to start all over and discovered that every time we locked the shift rod nut the vice grips were collapsing the shift rod. That was not our problem.   We realized the shift rod bushing must have shifted and was loose causing play , brand new bushing from Ed and we reassembled the shift rod.  The hockey stick dimple from the transaxle needs to be at 12 o'clock for the shifter neutral and at the shifter end the shift rod bucket needs to be centered in the mount hole. It shifts like a new car now, thanks for your help Ed.

I plan on altering the shift rod with a steel rod insert that will allow me to put an open end wrench on it so when I tighten the lock nut I will have something to hold it by.  We're having fun now.

It's about time to install turn signals, looked at about ever light on the market?nothing made me happy. So I decided ?to play with my mine and this is what I came up with -

I made a divider so the light would not bleed over -

Then I drilled a hole for a pop in light -

Thanks Mark, did a up grade on the tail lights figured the high extreme speeds I'll be doing that the blinker light might pop out so I made a lock-in bracket. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Next thing on the list, engine cover don't ask why but it's a roll cage suspended engine cover that bolts in.

With help from Skidmark ( Steve ) we acquired the aluminum for my engine cover and skidplate , thanks Steve -

Need to re-drill the front engine cover plate holes , some how my measurements were off -

Fiberglass the underside is easy compared to the outside ( paint side )  my driver side head light mount is showing it's age and has a crack making the head light lean a little , it should have been fixed when the body was off and upside down . So I was playing with the Kitty Hair I bought and found out it does not spread like Bondo it globs on for filling deep cracks so I tried it on my head light mount.

I think it turned out ok just need to road test it.

Nice job.  But I think a larger washer under the base of the headlight and a support from the front suspension will help in the long run.  Tom

Good catch Tom, yes a bigger washer would work better a trip to a hardware store is on my list.

Needed side mirrors I decided to make my own instead of welded brackets I went with clamp on so they can be adjusted up or down on roll cage -

Trying to keep them tight I countersunk the bolt tubes -

Image
Image

My Buddy Andy did the welding - the convex mirror is a 5 in.  Open Road Truck Mirrors made by Cham-Cal Engineering Co. Garden Grove.  I think I paid under $15 for the mirror, it's USA made.
Image

The clamp bolt tubes were welded in as one piece  to keep bolt alignment, then cut after -

I need to paint and test drive but so far I'm happy with them.
