Routing wires through tunnel?

I am thinking on buggy I have with a tunnel cutting a hole in top behind body front mount by pedals and running say 1 1/4 conduit to rear driver side trans leg.
Is there any do's or don't about doing this?

1 1/4" sounds a little big, but the idea sounds good. There are a lot of little tubes and things inside of a VW tunnel, but as long as it does not interfere, it should not be a problem. Just remember to leave room if you ever need to remove the shift rod.
