I have a buggy I bought from a old guy that never did anything with it that bought it from a old guys wife that died and the motor she said had tons of racing stuff done to it the old man did before he dead. When I removed the value covers you can see everything is anodized red racing stuff and The motor has dual dellorto carbs with dual port heads and I want to replace the pistons, ring, sleaves and so on but have no idea what size they are. I would also like to know if the heads are racing head or? What is the fastest and easiest way to tell if its still a 1600 or something larger and the other stuff? I looked and found a number stamped on the block that I dont remember now but google said the block was a 1600 but who knows if its been drilled and stroked or what. Any help is very much appreciated!

You are just going to have to pull the engine out, take it apart and start measuring the bore & stroke to figure out what you have, and then order the parts based on that. After all these years, the original number on the block doesn't mean much. Post some pictures of the heads after you measure the sizes of the valves and we can help with that. Tom

It is hard to tell from your piston measurement picture but assuming you have a stock stroke crankshaft (69mm) -
stock 1600cc 85mm is 3.3465
87.5 is 3.4449 = 1641
88mm is 3.4646
90.5mm is 3.569 = 1776
92mm is 3.6220 = 1835
94mm is 3.7008 = 1915
Other than the aftermarket solid rocker arm shafts, it looks pretty stock. If it has a counterweighted crankshaft, is may have more than stock stroke. Tom

Don't you love it when you try to help someone and they never come back? They went on TheSamba and got the same help. Tom
