Carb Selection

Hi,

I'll start off by explaining that when I bought my buggy, the guy I bought it from said that he had the engine rebuilt and was bored and should be, let's say more than 1800 cc (I don't remember what he told me at the time, and he said he didn't have any paperwork on the rebuild). By the serial number this engine started out as a single port 1600cc, and now is a dual port with a Zenith carb.

single port vw motors are 1500cc. 1800cc motors require larger carbs and larger exhausts in order to perform. in order to go from single to dual port the heads need to be changed, a rather big undertaking. in many cases a inexperienced person puts on a big carb and nothing else. this puts too much fuel in the engine that just blows past the piston rings and thins out the oil in the engine till it seizes.
if you bought a non running ;understand you bought a non running motor and something stopped it from running, so now you have to fix it. it could be anything or everything.

It's just spam. The signature block has a link to an advert. There are two additional new "members" who posted on the same day that also have different advert links as the only thing in their signature blocks. Looks like they are trying to put in site based content as a way to get around spam blockers.
