Clutch disc?

Post by lastmanx »

I have always used a spring center clutch disc: because my mechanic recommended it for over sand use. He said it makes a softer transition than non sprung. I plan to remove my engine and will check the disc for wear when I replace my cracked engine tins. So what is your opinion on spring verses solid center clutch disc?. is the solid best for drag racing only? Or is there no difference at all?

What kind of horsepower do you have and how do you drive? Spring center disks don’t hold up as well if you drive harder than an old lady in heavy traffic. If you’ve spent money on a more powerful engine and you want to drive it like it was intended, just get a Kennedy stage 1 clutch ( disk & pressure plate) and forget about it. While you’re in there, don’t forget to replace the throw out bearing!
