How to soften suspension if possible

Hello All,
Is there any way to soften up the suspension on a stock VW link pin and swing axle buggy? I already have very nice seats and I am old and not looking for Hot Rod suspension, just go to the mountains with buggy to view the scenery

Thanks all in advance

Rick

What pressure is in your tires?

12 PSI, and the shocks are KYB gas shocks all the way around

Try a change to regular oil shocks on the front, as soft as possible. Gas shocks are often way too hard for such light cars.

... let a little more air out of the tires. Dependent on the tires type, for trail riding, try front @ 8lbs, with 10 in the rear.

Do I have to run bead locks at those pressures?

no. I run in soft sand at 6 psi radial tires no problem. there is a procedure to remove some of the torsion spring plates in the beam. it is complicated and not for newbies. it can be found everywhere as it has been done since Bruce started it all in 1964. it should be in early manx newsletters like issue 1,2,or3. as a side note it is my personal experience that a link pin rides stiffer than a ball joint front end.

Nope bead locks not needed as long as your rims ok ... BUT don't run that low pressure on the street u'll tear up tires... we've mounted an on board air pump for re inflating.
