Exhaust fumes

I have an empi muffler that points straight out the back. When I carry my paddleboard on top the fumes are unbearable. Help, any ideas?

Nothing other than a U bend. How about post a picture may be able to get rid of low presume by changing angle of board mount?

I had the same problem in my buggy. I ended up cutting off the tip that points out the back. So now it points straight down. Fixed my problem all together. Maybe give it a shot?
