Acohol vs rubber fuel hose

Post by jsturtlebuggy »

Since they have started putting in more ethanol and other thing in gasoline I notice my fuel hoses where not last very long. Had to keep changing them out sooner than I thought.  They would get very brittle.
I switch to using fuel hose that was made for fuel injecton systems and they seem to be lasting longer.
The January 2011 issue of Hot Rod magazine has a great article about how the new fuels are effecting hoses including steel braided hoses and what is being done now.
According to the article the new fix is going to a hose that has PTFE (Teflon) liner.
In the article it says that car manufacturers have not used rubber fuel hose for 10 years now.
If you get a chance to read it there is some good information in it.

I do recommend to alway carry a fire extinguisher.
