So I was browsing our local craigslist tool section as I'm trying to shore up the tools in my garage and I came across a South Bend Lathe:http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tls/3935016977.html
Is this something I would use frequently? Is this a good deal? Seems like it would be a useful tool to have but I'm not 100% certain.

Lathe?
Great price on a good looking, highly respected name lathe. 9" is small (no brake work), & I don't see a 3 or 4 jaw chuck or any tool holders. Lathe tooling is not as expensive as Bridgeport tooling. As far as usage, it depends on how many custom parts you want to make for your (or your friends) cars. Tom

Lathe?
Dumb question time... How heavy is it going to be? Will I need help to load it into the back of my jeep?

The lathe itself could be @ 500#. The base, if it is steel or cast iron would be @ another 500#. Tom
