Per Jeff Hibbard's Book......"Baja Bugs and Buggies"
All 66 and 67 five bolt front drums fit 68 or later front brakes and spindles if you use 68 or later inner wheel bearings.

Buy the book on Amazon, it's worth having. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_ ... nd+buggies

The type 181 (Thing) front drums are the same as used on 1966-67 Beetles ball joint front ends. Both are the wide 5 205mm bolt pattern.
