Is there any interest in a "geochaching group" for Big Bear this year?

Hi Barb,
I would really love it if you could put a Geo run together. I know its a short notice but I have full confidence in you. We wont know if there will be any interest until Friday when people sign up for the different groups. But if we have a Geo run available Im sure people would sign up. I have a Garmin and would really like to know how to use it. Maybe I could go on this run. We will see.

Thanks
Bob

I'd be up for it!  Barb, I don't have a GPS (Other than a Garmin for my car) Do you have any advice on what I'd need to do this?  Is there a particular type or model that's more suitable than another?

I'll put something together;  it will be pretty easy.  Scott, I use a Garmin but lately I have been caching with my iphone. If you have iphone, you'll need to go to Geocaching.com and make an accont (if you don't already have one.)  Then down load the Goecaching App to your phone. Or any basic hand help GPS will work.  I'll put together a route and post the coords before the run.  For those that don't have a GPS, I'll print out maps that will show the route.

I love my GeoCaching App on the iPhone, but sometimes I have to use my NUVI GPS unit to nail down the location. GeoCaching is great fun with the buggys and the grandkids...

There are hundreds of caches in Big Bear.  I've looked at a route on the South side of the lake, all on fire roads, that have over 50 caches along them.  My plan would be to give a full caching experience; we will place a Buggy Friends Cache, release a Buggy Travel Bug and get as manny caches as time will allow...along with some great sight seeing.  I'll post more as I get the plan under way!!

Wow!  Cool app for the iPhone at geocaching.com.  I can't beleive technology today!  OK, I got the app, my Garmin, and a sense of adventure.  I should be there (at Holloways) around noon on Friday.  Let me know if you need any help.  Thank you Barb.

Will be there with Manxvair early Friday. I am member of geochaching.com and can print out some geochaches if needed. Manxvair and I did some geocaching at Glamis this spring with limited success, found one and spent quiet some time searching for another we never found. We are definitely amateur's but had fun trying it.

It's in the mail Bob...lol   Sorry I sent it on the due date.  Dinner and  a Lg Tee shirt.
I'll be there on Thursday night  and would like to do a prerun on Friday. No stopping for caches but I would like to check the route.  Any one interested is welcome to join in. We will be finding existing caches from Geocaching.com and will have maps and cache descriptions available to those in our group.  Bring your own "swag" if you plan on making trades in the caches or want to donate to the new cache container we will be placing. "Geocaching......using trillion dollar government satellite's to find hidden tupperware"

I'm having one of those days where everything I do to get ready to go  puts me one step back...so...I'm delayed.  Need to wait for the buggy shop to open so I can get a new tow bar!  so....the prerun at 10 tomorow is delayed.  See you at camp tanda.
