Right on Scott, for a moment there I thought you were older than you really are.

Will the C2C site be up soon?

Hopefully going to buy this one , http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3805708305.html , and Brad is checking it out for me tomorrow and purchasing if all's good
Will obviosly give it the once over , once we get there change fluids etc , and grease bearings etc etc , as i hate being a burdon on anyones trip with a unmaintained car that could have had preventative maintanance before leaving on a big trip .
It will also be our first time in the US and for me the first time outside Australia , and we thank you for the welcome response already comming through Scott.
Scott i will also pm you my email address now so as you can forward any important info or such .

WOW!  It is amazing how much "momentum" this event is gaining!  It is like a dune buggy (Hot Rod) Power Tour.  Tom

We're also getting attention form sponsors. The website banner listing the sponsors is the final piece Orange Digital is working on. The site is just a couple days away from launch. Once that's up, it'll be much easier to get sponsors signed up because they will instantly see how special this event is . . .

I'm keeping my fingers crossed Andrew . . Not a bad looking Tow'd at all!

Well, I am sure a lot of other buggies besides Bruce's are getting "fixed up" for this event.  I am going to drive a '62 Manx.  After getting burned once on a cross country trip with the Manxter in 2007, I am going through the car and freshing up a lot of parts.  1st was new rims & tires to get rid of the Cragars , adaptors, tires hanging out of the fenders and 10 year old tires.  I also tried out the Bikini top that came with the car.  I think that will be enough cover for the sun and no rain that we are expecting.  LOL
 [/img]Image
Next was to fix the brakes.  I bought a set of AC Industries Zero offset 4 wheel disks and a new disk/disk master cylinder.
[/img]Image
[/img]Image

With those jobs done, I am starting on "more power".  I am building a mild 2007cc engine to replace the 1600cc single port that is in the car now so the car will have enough power to handle the hills out west with no problem.  It will be similar to the Bus engine build in Hot VW's last year.
[/img]Image
After that is done, I plan to rewire the car, adding a later VW steering colum and H4 headlights.  I also think the swing axle transaxle should be changed out.  It has popped out of 4th and reverse once already.  Basically the whole car gets rebuilt to avoid any problems.  If we have time, we may also get some blue metalflake and "62-67 Bug tailights on the back of the car to make it look more original.  Tom

Drum Roll Please . . . Introducing the Manx Club Sea-to-Sea Safari website!

This is a soft opening as everything works but the Forum, which will be sorted out tomorrow. Join the Twitter feed to get occasional updates now, but lots of updates live from the road in October. Also look for new products in the Store soon, and information on the raffle for Bruce's Meyers Manx Kickout SS buggy. The tickets will be available in September, with the buggy being raffled off at Big Bear in July of 2014. http://www.seatoseasafari.com/.

Please let me know if you find any problems, errors, or annoyances. Thanks!

SO I was looking over the website today, specifically the 'expectations and guidelines' page and saw this:

? Your buggy needs to have a fuel range of at least 200 miles (more is better).

Is that not a problem for anyone else? I seem to only get about 7 usable gallons out of my tank and I get about 20mpg.

I think reality is they will stop every 2 hours or so, which would be @ 140 - 150 miles.  Otherwise, bring a gas can.  Tom
