Gary, that's a great question and something that we will provide information about on the website.  The quick answer is yes, there are RV parks.  I'll get the specifics and provide that information.  Thank you for the interest.Bud

Manx on the Banx 2012

Post by Jon »

We just reserved our beach house in Kitty Hawk for "Manx on the Banx - 2012".  Now I've got eleven months to get the buggy running again.  It wasn't much fun flat towing it from Cleveland to Kitty Hawk and back without driving it Saturday with the club.  I want to thank everyone that tried to get it running Friday night at the Brewery. To add to our misfortune we weren't even able to locate the barbecue Saturday night.   Best we could do was about a half hour in the seaside parking lot, fighting off the famous razor toothed blackflys of the outer banks and its distant relative, the dreaded flying vampire mosquito, who can singlehandedly drain the entire blood supply of an adult human being, in three minutes or less.  Next year has to be better!

Jon,

We are thrilled that you'll be attending the 2012 event and I promise we'll have a map for you (and everyone else) on where to find all the key sites for the 2012 event.  I have to tell you, although you didn't get your buggy running, it was one of the nicest buggies I've seen.  If you haven't checked out the pictures on the www.manxonthebanx.com site yet, you'll find a number of them of your buggy.

I concur that the blood suckers were the worst I've ever seen.  I live down the coast from Nags Head (about 250 miles) and we don't have anything like that Image  One of the best things I brought with me (at Vince and Louis' suggestion) was bug spray.  I have to tell you, that stuff really worked!

Look forward to seeing you again in 2012.  Keep an eye on the website for info on what we have planned.

Thanks,
Bud

Gary,

I'm sorry about the delayed response.  Yes, there are a number of campgrounds around the area.  I'll try to get something posted on the website soon.

Hope to see you there.

Your wait is over!  Many people in attendance for the Manx on the Banx 2011 asked whether there was an event T-shirt available for purchase.  Except for the one-off sweat shirt given to Bruce (who wasn't selling), T-shirts were not generally available until now!  Check out the classified section at: www.manxonthebanx.com for your opportunity to purchase a shirt and support the only east coast Manx Club event.

We are in need of a creative person(s) to design the 2012 Manx on the Banx poster.  Please have a look at the article on the main page:

Please help us out and submit your ideas.

There have been a lot of questions recently regarding whether the planned and/or current beach access restrictions on the OBX will have any impact on the beach cruise we have planned for the MOTB 2012.  The answer is NO!

There is a lengthy threaded conversation on the Samba ( http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=499825 ) regarding this topic.

To address this question in more detail, I've posted an article on the http://www.manxonthebanx.com web site that should clear up any concerns.  Please take a look and please let me know if there are any additional questions.

Thanks,
Bud
