I saw on the norra site that 5/1600 gets the lower $2500 entry fee....I wish they had extended that to the Manx guys as well since we are truly "pioneer" class.

Has anybody contacted NORRA about a Meyers Manx class? And possibly a lower entry fee?

I asked about the class being in evolution and the answer I got was because of the prior Manx and Tow'd running Subaru power and more current style suspension, etc. Chris Wilson noted I could run pioneer buggy rather than evolution. If there are three or more of us running Air Cooled then maybe they can set aside a specific Pioneer Manx class.

If inchworm had not already signed up I was going to petition harder for the lower fee to help the vintage effort especially Manx since Bruce was the true pioneer. Seems reasonable to me and I'm running VW-air cooled and the $1k lower fee would really help my budget entry.

I bought a used 1910cc engine and have a guy building my +1" long trailing arms but am otherwise going very simple BJ front end and no coilovers.

I don't see why they couldn't have a Vintage & a Evolution Meyers Manx class, especially since it was the 4 wheel vehicle that started it, and in honor of the 50th Anniversary.

I'm guessing they can and would be very accommodative.

FWIW my opinion is/was that it would be nice and generous and in the "Spirit of NORRA" if they allowed the lower UTV/Class5-1600 fee for original Manx regardless of pioneer or evolution class.

I can ask NORRA or we can individually as well which would help....info@norra.com

Doubt discount now since they have so many historical entries.

My '69 Yuma Yellow is still in 10,000 parts. I'm trying to get it done but we'll see.

Even if I dont' have my Manx done I'll be down in Baja with my Early Bronco team for the 6th year in a row.

NORRA website shows #1100 "Mike Bloom" in the Pioneer class, is he a MC member?

I'm super motivated for sure for the 50th.....and have probably close to $10k in parts sitting around, its just having a 2 year old and a 9 month old and being 43 and traveling for work a lot has killed any productivity. Finding a half day where my wife doesn't give me grief is WAY harder to find then I anticipated.

If I actually had some nearby friends that had VW knowledge and we could collectively crush a bunch of assembly in a weekend I'd feel great. I'm hoping this weekend to work on my torsion bars, the custom fab rear trailing arms I had made by Dave Brown (Portland area and did beautiful work) and a bunch of other odds and ends.

If anyone wants to have a "Manx Party" I live south of San Jose in the Santa Cruz mountains and here is some of the "jewelry" I have ready for assembly.

Plus a beautiful race tranny from Benco out of Riverside.

If only we were closer... That sounds like a fantastic invitation! Nice assertion of parts but do me a favor: take that urethane steering copler and throw it as far as you can! It will fail on you - Ask me hon I know...

To keep "on topic" for this thread, has everyone that is going down been along for the "NORRA Circus" before?

Off topic, if you have a preferred alternative for the urethan, send a link, I'll all ears. 8-)

I hate to go "off topic" too much but if you guys have any suggestions for trick or cool parking brake mechanisms I'm also open/interested in suggestions.

I know John #9 Mark #166 and myself #302 have done it before, I can't speak for The 1100 crew. The rest of teams #166 & #302 are 1st timers.

I feel like I'm in the same boat. I had a great idea of getting the burro ready for Norra, but a 3 and 1 year old, plus running a dental practice has really limited any time to actually work on it. It's too bad we are not closer to be able to get them done.
