2011 Santa Paula Christmas Parade

Post by 5150bossman »

For those of you that missed it, we had about a dozen buggies all decked out in their Christmas best participate in the parade.  I can't speak for anyone else, but I was grinning from ear to ear Image as we drove the parade route.  For a small town, there was a huge amount of spectators out there.  The wind was a minor issue, almost ripping off some of our decorations just as we turned onto the start of the parade route, but we were able to save them in the St  Nick of time.  To see all those kids, young and old, light up when they saw us roll by was the greatest feeling you can imagine.  KADY TV was out there and video taped the entire parade.  Below is a link to the video.  If you want, you can fast forward to about the 45 minute mark to watch us go by.  We have to tremendously thank Connie and Lynn for putting on this event, the pot luck and a little street run afterword.  It was all a blast!

Mike,
Thanks for the video. The buggy's sure added some bling to the parade. The sleigh behind a buggy was a nice touch. I agree much thanks to Connie and Lynn for making it all happen. If Santa Paula still has their cruise night (in the Summer), buggy's could add some flavor there too.

Thanks Mike for finding the coverage. It's so cool the small town spirit is still alive in some places of the country. We had so much fun, not just at the parade, but at the the potluck the Breedlove's hosted at their home. Just another example of Dune Buggies spreading cheer!

Stay tuned for coverage of a brand new run that Lynn Breedlove has conceptualized: Buggies, Bullets, and Beer!   I'll probably leave the deer head off the front of the car for that one, and wear some really bright colors . . .Image
