Calico 2011

Post by Old-Towd »

Had a great time at Calico this year.  Super thanks to Ed for letting me be navigator in his buggy.  We were a little worried about the weather but it held out great for Saturday.  What a fun friendly group of people, thanks everybody.  We even got to eat dinner in a Ghost Town.

Our first stop was a sand hill.

Our second stop was at an old mine that Mark's family used to work but is now closed off .

We had a great time in Calico - our first time out on the extreme run!  I've got a ton of pictures in Photobucket, which you can look at or not, but here are a couple.  All I can say about the extreme run is that it got us in the right frame of mind for the trip home!  Wowie zowie - now THAT was extreme!  Howling winds buffeting our motor home, driving rain, several nasty accidents, but we made it home okay even towing a busted buggy (tortion bar).

Here's the link if you want to see them all - and there are LOTS of them - from the beginning of our trip to the end.

Here is a few of our pics. We had a great time and with a little man power we were able to get over every boulder.

Had a great time at Calico on Saturday's run. Arms are a little sore from no power steering.

I was able to lead the extreme run and get everyone lost in the beautiful back country around Calico. With alot of help we did find our way back in time to get ready for dinner. Dinner was great at Calico.

Do have a few more scratches on floor pan and skid plate.

Your welcome to ride along anytime on the extreme runs Kathleen when your out here.

Did anyone get a picture of Mac's of Out Front Motorsports buggy's?

Joe,
Thanks!  I'll ride shotgun with you ANYTIME!!  I had great fun on the run!  You did a great job on the run.  You took over the run @ the last minute and stepped up when no one else did.  The run is about everyone being a part of making it a sucess.  That's what the usher system is all about.  Anyhow, you gave us more smiles per mile!! ImageImageImage
The way I remember it... you have more than scratches;  more like DENTS in the floorpan from that 1 BIG rock that we dragged about 10 feet.  Then there were all those other rocks!  I kept thinking about driving my Manxter on that course.  Phew!!  I would have been FREAKING OUT!! Image  It would be like you driving your beautiful Kick-Out on that run. Image
I have some good videos to remember the run.  A few shots of my feet, the camera twisting around the car and my face with a mask on it.  LOL!!  It was when I was trying to figure out how to work the video on the camera.  I did get some other video.  It takes HOURS to download it on photobucket!!  Never knew it would be so slow.  Maybe I'll get 1 or 2 on the site with Tom's help.
Sad to say, I have no pics of Mac's car.
Thanks for a great time!!

Joseph, we were not lost! just exploring the desert. Thanks for stepping up @ the last minute to lead. It was a challenging and fun run that we all worked together to get through.
