A little bit of historical info before the mayhem starts!
Bruce Meyers (left) and Ted Mangels celebrate their 1967 Baja record run with "Old Red."
NORRA History wrote:The first race to be sanctioned by the organization would be the 1967 "Mexican 1000 Rally" beginning in Tijuana and racing from Ensenada to La Paz. 68 vehicles started the race competing in four classes. For the first time different types of vehicles would compete against each other. After the first vehicle, the Meyers Manx Buggy #10 driven by Vic Wilson and Ted Mangels came across the line Pearlman knew he had an event that held great potential.

Build Race Party wrote:Bruce Meyers (right) straps into one of three Meyers Manx-entered factory “Tow’d” race cars with co-driver Bill “Wheelo” Anderson for the start of the 1968 NORRA Mexican 1000. Several hours later Meyers crashed the car and severely fractured both legs and his left ankle. His trip back to San Diego for medical attention took 22 hours and Meyers quit racing until the 2002 Baja 1000.

Autoweek wrote:After 1,300 miles, 96 hours, two engines, three transmissions, a busted exhaust, a bent shifter, a stuck throttle, countless bottles of water, much swearing and the looming threat of heat exhaustion, Bruce Meyers and the Meyers Manx Race Team buggy drove through the finish line at the town square of San Jose Del Cabo and completed the damn 2014 NORRA Mexican 1000 once and for all.
Finally -- for Meyers' and the number 1964 buggy's first time -- they had successfully navigated the Baja Peninsula and finished under their own power.

As part of next weekend’s festivities, the newly restored car, now owned by Fred and Ginny Willert of El Cajon, Calif., will make its first public debut since the late 1980s – first at Friday night’s NORRA function at Ensenada’s Horsepower Ranch, and then in the “General Tire Vintage Round-Up” at downtown’s Riviera Convention Center on Saturday, April 25th.

We can almost taste the busy activity that must be going on in the Meyers Manx HQ...
Mike sent us this quick note overnight (1:26am).
manxvair wrote:We've been burning the midnight oil getting the buggies prepared, not really any time to take any photos . Tomorrow we head south to Horsepower ranch and the next stage begins, hopefully I can get you some photos from there. Mike
Lets hope they bring enough Pesos and get to relax a little in Horsepower Ranch!
I'll try to report back later today.

The teams are in good hands... Bruce approved!
Those buggies are way too clean for the race!
