Tim,
Hows the storage compartment coming for Kermit? (I haven't started on mine yet).I don't have a firm time when the 'Great River Road Dune Buggy Club' will be leaving for Effingham but I'll find out and let you know. You're more than welcome to tag-along with the group. If I'm not 'mis-remembering' last year we left 9:00ish on the Friday of the event and NO my buggy was not there. That changes this year!
Very cool that it has be reported that Bruce will be there this year!

Mike,
thanks for the encouragement, there is safety in numbers.I'm sure we'll have a great time.Elaine will have a better, more relaxed time, the more worry-free/break-down free the trip is for us?Joe Wheeler(sp?) sent me a pre-launch trip list to get me thinking/working in the right direction.

Tony

Tony, the storage compartment is coming along. I think we have all the pieces to make it happen. We did find a motorcycle trailer that we are going to tow behind Kermit, so we are getting it ready and putting the cage with the hitch on.

Last year, we went early because a friend had to set up, but 9 sounds more like it! Keep me updated and we will meet up and ride with yall.

I've heard some of you might consider crossing into Canada while in Buffalo. While I have no influence on border crossing, I encourage you to make sure you get proper documents well ahead of your trip should you consider crossing into Canada. The easiest would be for you to have a valid Passport but there are other accepted documents (Nexus, EDL, etc).

I highly recommend you do not try to cross the border with any kind of firearms. Please double check your vehicle (glove box, under seat, etc) for 'forgotten' weapons before attempting to cross the border.

Travellers with Criminal Convictions, Including Impaired Driving: If this applies to you, please make sure you are aware of the restrictions. We're not going to judge you but know the facts and don't attempt to cross if you are going to have problems at the border. It's not that I don't want you in our country, it's simply that I wish everyone to have a great time at the event.

There's a parallel VW/Dune Buggy show happening across the river that week-end, perhaps some of you will want to drive by (time permitting).

I found this document pretty current and thought I'd share:
http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g15333 ... order.html

Again, I'm far from the expert on border crossing but get your paper request early if you think you may want to cross.

Excellent Reminder, Vincent ,
If you are a New York state resident , a enhanced New York state Drivers License , can be used as ID to get in and out of Canada ,
and is very easy to get at your local DMV and does not take long to get.

Various members of the Cushman clan are sorting out their logistics so they can join us with a buggy and chase support.(more to follow)

Alright everybody it's time to perform that final maintenance to get the vehicles in long distance condition. The departure day will be here before you know it!

Charli & Jon Paola (driving Buggy) along with Kathy & Bob Cushman (truck/trailer/buggy) have confirmed their Hotel reservations and will be with us from the start in So-Cal. They will each tag along with ECVW on the return loop for a portion of the drive until they have to break off for home.

Kelli and I will be driving our buggy down from northern Illinois to meet the group in Collinsville. 1 or 2 of our boys will be following with our Suv and trailer. All reservations are confirmed! Now, if I could just get some time to prep the buggy.........

Wow!!! This is going to be a great group caravan!

In Collinsville, near the hotel, is a great place for bbq called Bandanas. If the group would like, Barb and I can make some reservations for our group. Scott and Mark, if this is good with you and the group, just say the word and we will take care of it here. One less thing to worry about for ya. :-)

Looking forward to this trip more each day! Time to hit that to do list hard!

Hi everybody!

Just a quick check to see who will be shipping their buggy back from Buffalo, NY . We'll have an enclosed transporter picking the buggies up at the Holiday Inn at 10:00am on Sunday, June 28th and then head straight back to two drop-off points in Southern California: one drop off location for three buggies near San Diego, and two buggies dropped off near Los Angeles. I'm estimating the cost to be in the $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 dollar per car range, but I'll have a firm price in the very near future. Expressing your interest now may bring us a lower per car cost, and, once we sign the contract we can't add or subtract any cars from the transporter. So, please let me know of your interest soon, and where you would need the car delivered in case we need to add additional drop off stops.

To date, buggies being shipped back are:
1. Bruce & Winnine Meyers
2. Mike & Lori Ann Dario
3. Bruce Parrish
4. Mark Miller
5. Scott Drolet
