2014 Baja Tour
It was a very busy, long day today. There was a special event in Newport Beach to celebrate the 50th anniversary, by the time we got all the buggies back where they belong and left Valley Center for San Diego it was sunset. Tomorrow we start early and head to Ensenada. We are not sure how good our internet connections will be but we will try to keep every one updated on our adventure.
Re: 2014 Baja Tour
Thank you for this update, sure hope your internet connection works well on your trip. It's the next best thing to being there.

Re: 2014 Baja Tour
San Diego-Ensenada, 14 Buggies, 3 chase trucks. 1 buggy electrical issue-fixed, 1 buggy brake issue-left behind, fixed and caught up at Horsepower Ranch. Beautiful drive, local drivers are crazy especially the truckers "He with the biggest lug nuts win!"!. Border crossing slight delay for paperwork check, added 1 buggy & 1 chase truck. Horsepower Ranch is incredible especially if you're a Baja Race fan. Of course the group found a bar upon arrival. Great party to honor Bruce, rubbing elbows with some Baja legends. (side note-uploading pictures is slow here so more pictures will be available upon return)
Re: 2014 Baja Tour
Today was pretty cool. We went into Ensenada for tech inspection and the start of Motorcycles, again if your a fan of Baja racing it was like a kid at Christmas. The Race Manx appears to all set to go, Thanks to Marty Fioka for making this happen. Club member John Steinhilber and his Nacho Cheese Racing Team are also here. We are wishing both teams good luck! Horsepower Ranch does not have electricity other then a generator that they only run later in the afternoon and night so when we returned there was no electricity, we had to just hang out and deplete the ice chests, during this time another member of the crew made an appearance, our resident alien Rozita-Verde-Libre, shortly after Nacho-Libre appeared, strange things happen down here and we still have another 1000 miles to go! What will happen next!?
Marty Fioka, Bruce and Winnie at tech inspection.
John Steinhilber's Manxster ready to race! (Mark Landon you can't drive it!)
Rozita-Verde-Libre has arrived!
Who is this masked man?
Tomorrow-Sunday will be a very early/long day, the race starts 0600 hrs and will cover 340 miles to Bahia De Los Angeles. Bruce will take the green flag and later make a driver change. Stay tuned.

Re: 2014 Baja Tour
Ensenada - Bahi de Los Angeles, Bruce started the race in the #1964 Manxster Race buggy, he got out of the car in Santo Thomas turning it over to 1 of the other drivers for the team. He got into his kick out with Winnie behind the wheel and we headed south. Lunch break at Mama Espinosa's in El Rosario BC. Then we made the trek to Bahia de Los Angeles where we set up our tents in a make shift camping area for the race crowd. We had NO communications what so ever!
Bahia de Los Angeles- Loreto, late start due to repairs to the race buggy, transmission replacement needed. The Manx group hit the road heading south while the mechanics were still working real hard on the buggy. the drive was long and very hot, we covered over 380 miles.
Lunch stop in San Ignacio near the Mission,
Dropping on to the coast of the Sea of Cortez, ending the day in Loreto around 9 pm, time for a shower and dinner and again poor internet connections.

Loreto-La Paz. Although a shorter distance to drive then prior leg there is a lot of construction which either means you stop on the side of the road or you travel on dirt bypasses at about 10-15 mph and they are not watered so the dust is pretty bad, add in that the air temp got to around 103. Arrival in La Paz before the sun went down mean't 1 thing, the pool! where we cooled off and relaxed a bit. The race car is still going thanks to a lot of hard working people and a team of drivers/co-drivers set on the mission to get it to the finish line. 1 more leg to go and then we can all relax a little bit more and enjoy Baja!.
Bruce and Winnie have been sharing duties behind the wheel of their Kick out.

I agree. Excellent pictures and comments. Other than the race buggy, it looks all of the road buggys are doing good.

Team Meyers Manx 1964 just crossed the finish line in San Jose del Caro!
Re: 2014 Baja Tour
La Paz- San Jose del Cabo. The last leg of the race would have Bruce, Bob Kornoff and Bobs grandson Justin rejoin the race team while the Baja Tour group headed to the finish line. We had a nice drive with a lunch stop in Los Barriles for some Lobster tacos, they were outstanding! Once in San Jose del Cabo we managed to find our way onto the track and 8 of the buggies got to drive over the Official finish line. As already posted Bruce capped off the day by completing the NORRA 1000 in the Manxster race buggy.
The rest of the 2014 Manx Baja Tour,
Tibor and Doran Dobranski
John and Charlie Paola
Scott Drolet
Phil and Becca Moore
Mark and Lemon Tebbe
Awesome lobster tacos in Los Barriles
The buggies lined up at the finish line.
Bruce closing the deal.

Such a great time
Re: 2014 Baja Tour
San Jose del Cabo, Much needed rest day. A goup of us went to Cabo San Lucas for the afternoon and did some sightseeing, drove our buggies down on the beach and went for a swim in the Ocean. We hit the road home tomorrow (Friday 5/16/14) at 0600 hrs. The next couple of days will have us driving over 400 miles a day to get home. I will not have the time or connections to update our progress so I will upload more pictures after we arrive home.
This trip has been Incredible!
