Congrats on your new project Greg.
Tell us more about how you are going to build it.
The yellow looks goods. Did you get a top?
I am in the middle of changing over to Subaru power in mine. Just the little 2.5L DOHC model. The price of the 3Litre 6 cylinder JDM's has come down. It is Medeola favorite.

Thanks all, the color is Sun fusion yellow from a Toyota FJ. I'm planning on using a Subaru 2.5 also, is Outfront the best place for Subaru's ? I didn't get a top yet because I thought I might want to build a roof rack, but since I also want to use side curtains I think I'll need to order a top at some point. A friend of mine is a transmission builder and he's trying to convince me to use the stronger type 2 waterboxer transmission with the side shifter, has anyone installed a transmission with a side shift ?

I found OutFront to be the best place for parts and the most important of all they will share their knowledge with you.
Mac is the one to talk to at OutFront. He has incredible amount of insight on what it take for the conversion.
Everyone there is very friendly.
Jon has a 5speed in his Manxter and made his own linkage. Weddle and others have linkage for the side shifters. Plus the WasserBoxer trans has a real reverse gear.
Get the top your wife will appriciate. Plus it keeps most of the water out of the buggy during high speed water crossings.
Did you get the rear wing for mounting the radiator.
The 3Liter 6 cylinder Subaru engine is only about 1 1/5in longer than a 2.5L engine and does not weigh that much more.
Kevin at Medola says they have more low end torque than the 2.5L.
Ron the guy from Mammoth has the 3L 6 cylinder in his green Manxter Dual Sport. He used it to run the Mexican 1000 rally last year.

I heard that a Sea Spray Metalic was made, but no one has ever seen it.
Greg - I have the Vanagon five speed in mine with the side shift. I made my own linkage that I finally got all work out and it shift nice. I have plenty of pics if you decide to go that route. Like Joe said, Weddle and others now make a nice cable shifter too.

If you check out the you tube video for the manxter ds you will see your manxter and also the "rare" Sea Spray Metalic manxter DS
Greg We have the top and side curtains and they are great. They sure make winter buggy runs enjoyable.

Looks like a lot of barwork should be plenty strong.
Any details on the dash cover in the last pictures ? Is that something you made up >

I think what you are seeing to is the master cylinder cover that comes with the hanging pedal option.

Ah ok that makes sense, we don't have a RHD Hanging option so I never really looked at them in that much detail.

Nice build, any progress since last year? I'd love to see more!
