Manx Badge Ebay

Post by rgreason »

I purchased my manx II with the Manx SR badge mounted on it which i love. Those worth
anything, not that I would sell it.  Maybe I could retire...

Wow, really $1500, is it real?

It looks like reserve was met $1005.00...what? Hmm..  And apparently he has another one with same pic that says: I HAVE ANOTHER N.O.S. MEYERS MANX NOSE BADGE EMBLEM FROM THE 1960'S. (YES THE OTHER ONE SOLD)"

He sold one back in June for almost $2000, I'm not sure where one guy could have gotten hold of all of these NOS badges, they couldn't possibly be a run of repros could they?

Didn't original manx badges come highlighted in silver anyway?

It was in the early 90s, but I saw a vendor with a display case
of  NOS plastic and metal (SR) Meyers Manx badges at Pomona. I bought a
few of each. I've heard from others who saw a box full of the SR
badges. The NOS plastic ones I have do have the raised area painted silver, but its mostly flaked off. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller removed what was left.  I believe the current eBay ones are genuine.

Nice looking badges and at least they don't say 'Meyers' Manx. I'm still not sure B&W would approve though. I tried to buy a Manxter badge off them once for my Manx 2 but they refused as it would be 'period incorrect' so I'm guessing they'd think the same about repro SR2 badges.

Does this latest offering on eBay look slightly wrong to anyone else or is it just me?

Does anyone know of a source and price for these Mexican SR2 replica badges?

These have apeared on eBay in the UK, at least he admits that they're repros but still expensive for resin castings IMHO and I'm sure it won't be long until Winnie gets them withdrawn for copyright infringement or whatever...
